Dialup Setup Instructions - Windows 95

1) From your Desktop, double-click My Computer.
Double-Click the Dial-Up Networking folder.

2) Double-Click the Make New Connection Icon.
|
|
|
3) You will be asked to type a name for the connection you are dialing; Enter Copper.net
Click Next.
|
|
|
4) In the Phone number field, type your local access number exactly as it needs to be dialed without spaces or dashes. Do not put anything in the area code box.
IMPORTANT: COPPER.NET CANNOT REPRESENT OR GUARANTEE THAT ANY DIAL-UP PORT IS LOCAL. IF ANY DOUBT EXISTS, USER SHOULD CONTACT THEIR TELEPHONE SERVICE PROVIDER DIRECTLY.
Click the Next button.

5) Click Finish.

|
6) Right-Click the new Copper.net connection and Left-Click Properties.
|
|
|
7) On the General Tab, uncheck the box that says "Use area code and dialing properties" or "Use area code and country code"
|
|
|
8) On the Server Types Tab, uncheck the box that says "Log on to Network", the one that says "NetBEUI" and the one that says "IPX/SPX Compatible."
Click OK.

9) Right-Click the Copper.net Connection again and Left-Click Create Shortcut. A box will pop up that says "Windows cannot create a shortcut here. Would you like it to be placed on your desktop instead?". Click Yes.

10) Open Internet Explorer. Click on Tools, then click on Internet Options
|
|
|
11) On the General Tab, where it says "You can change the page to use for your homepage". Type in http://www.mycopper.net, then click Apply.

|
12) Click on Connections Tab. Put a dot next to "Always dial my default connection", then click Apply and OK. |

|
13) To connect close and reopen the Internet Explorer it should bring up the dial up connection for you.
